Display Regulations

**This list is based on the ISEF Display and Safety Regulations, but has been ammended.

 

Items Not Allowed on Display

  1. Living organisms, (exception: plants)

  2. Preserved vertebrate or invertebrate animals, including taxidermy specimens or parts

  3. Human/animal parts or body fluids (for example, blood, urine)

  4. Laboratory/household chemicals

  5. All hazardous substances or devices (i.e., poisons, drugs, weapons, ammunition, and lasers)

  6. Dry ice or other sublimating solids

  7. Sharp items (for example, syringes, needles, knives)

  8. Flames or highly flammable materials

  9. Batteries with open-top cells

  10. Photographs or other visual presentations depicting vertebrate animals in lab procedures.

  11. Prior year's written material or visual depictions on the vertical display board.

  12. Glass or glass objects (exception: glass that is a part of a commercial product such as a computer screen

 

Items Allowed, BUT with the Restrictions Indicated

  1. Waste samples if permanently encased in a slab of acrylic

  2. Photographs and/or visual depictions if:

  • They are not deemed offensive or inappropriate by the Science Fair Committee.

  • Credit lines of their origins: "Photograph taken by." or "Image taken from."

  • They are photographs or visual depictions of the student.

  • They are photographs of human subjects for which signed consent forms are obtained.

 3.  Any apparatus with unshielded belts, pulleys, chains, or moving parts with tension or pinch points if for display only and not operated
